Straight answers.
If your question is about an emergency happening now, stop reading and call 112.
Does aid.mt replace 112?
No. aid.mt is not an emergency service and is not affiliated with 112. In any emergency, call 112 first. aid.mt is designed to add to that — by telling your contacts and, once approved, asking verified responders nearby — never to replace or delay it.
Can I call 112 without an account?
Yes. Every Call 112 button on this site and in the app simply opens your phone’s dialler. It needs no account, no subscription and nothing from our servers.
Is aid.mt operating now?
Not yet. This is a preview. No real responders are dispatched and contact alerts are simulated. We will only go live after legal, clinical, insurance and regulatory approval and a supervised pilot. See service status.
Who are the responders?
People who apply to help: doctors, registered nurses, qualified emergency responders, first-aid-trained volunteers and trained carers. They are not part of the public emergency services, and none are active through aid.mt yet.
How are responders verified?
We check identity, Maltese professional registration where it applies, first aid and CPR training, insurance, a police conduct certificate and references. We re-check regularly, and an expired document suspends the account automatically. More for responders.
What data do you collect?
Your account details, your trusted contacts and — only if you choose — a medical profile. During an alert we record its time and status and, if you allow it, your location. The privacy notice explains each item and how long we keep it.
Is my medical information safe?
The medical profile is optional. It is encrypted before it is stored, never public, and never used for advertising or AI training. It is shared only during an alert, and only in the way you set.
Do you track my location?
No. Location is used only while an alert is open, and only if you allow it. When the alert ends or you cancel it, sharing stops.
What if no responder is available?
We tell you straight away, in plain words. The app never shows “help is coming” or an arrival time unless a qualified responder has actually accepted. Call 112 and your contacts stay one tap away.
How much does it cost?
Call 112 and the basic safety features are free. Paid plans with indicative prices are on the plans page. No payment is taken before launch.
Which languages does it support?
English and Maltese. Switch at the top of any page or in the app settings. Some Maltese text is still being translated during the preview.
Can children use it?
Accounts are meant for adults. We are designing guardian accounts so a parent or legal guardian can add and manage a child or other dependant. Age and consent rules will be confirmed before launch.
Does aid.mt use AI?
Only for non-critical admin and support, such as drafting replies for a person to check. AI never makes medical decisions, never chooses who is sent and is not part of the emergency path.
How do I complain?
Use the contact form and choose “Complaint”. We will acknowledge it and explain what happens next. How complaints work.
Still have a question?
Write to us. We read every message, but we can’t help with emergencies — call 112.
Be ready before you need it.
Set up your trusted contacts and emergency profile in the app preview. In an emergency, call 112 first.
