For responders

Join the responder network.

Doctors, nurses, emergency responders, first-aid volunteers and trained carers can apply now. You won’t receive any request until the service is approved and you are verified for it.

aid.mt is not dispatching anyone yet. Applying does not make you part of an operating service. When dispatch starts, it will begin as a supervised pilot in a limited area.
Who can apply

Five kinds of responder.

Each kind is asked only for situations that match its training.

Doctors

Doctors with current registration to practise in Malta.

Registered nurses

Nurses with current registration in Malta.

Emergency responders

Paramedics and other qualified emergency responders with recognised training.

First-aid-trained volunteers

People with a current, recognised first aid and CPR certificate.

Trained carers

Carers with recognised care training, for non-clinical support and first aid within their training.

What we verify

Checked before, and again later.

You upload your documents in the application. A person on our team checks each one.

  • Your identityAn official photo ID that matches the person applying.
  • Professional registrationYour Maltese professional registration, where your role has one, checked against the official register.
  • First aid and CPR trainingCertificate, issuer and expiry date.
  • InsuranceCover that applies to this kind of voluntary or professional activity.
  • Police conduct certificateA recent certificate of conduct, where the law allows us to ask for one.
  • ReferencesPeople who can confirm your experience and character.

Qualified doesn’t mean dispatched

Passing verification does not automatically mean you will be sent to anything. A qualification on its own never authorises emergency dispatch.

Before anyone is offered a request, the system checks — at that moment — that their registration, training and insurance are still valid, that they chose to be available, that they are inside the operating area, and that the situation is within the scope set for their role.

Scope rules

You’re only asked for what you’re trained for.

A scope matrix, approved by our clinical lead, decides which roles may be offered which kinds of situation. Being closer never puts a less qualified person ahead of a qualified one.

Doctors and nurses

A wider range of situations, within your registration and the approved protocols.

Volunteers and carers

Non-clinical support and first aid within your training. No medical instructions.

Everyone

You can decline any request. If a situation is beyond you, call 112 and keep yourself safe.

Staying verified

Checks don’t stop after day one.

  1. Regular re-checks

We re-verify registration, training and insurance at set intervals.

  2. Expiry means a pause

If a certificate, registration or insurance expires, your account is suspended automatically until it is renewed and checked.

  3. Refresher training

Mandatory refreshers keep skills current. Dates are tracked in the app.

  4. A fair appeal

If we decline or suspend you, we tell you why and how to appeal.
